The Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court of Mongolia received the ambassador of the European Union

The Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court of Mongolia Mr. Chinbat Namjil received today /November 17, 2021/ the Ambassador of the European Union to Mongolia Ms. Axelle Nicaise.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court of Mongolia Mr. Chinbat Namjil congratulated the Ambassador on her appointment to Mongolia and presenting her credentials.


The Chief Justice further informed the Ambassador that the Constitutional Court of Mongolia will preside over the Association of Asian Constitutional Courts and Equivalent Institutions in 2021-2023 and added that the Constitutional Court and the AACC cooperate with the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe and Constitutional review bodies of the European Union. He noted his willingness to develop further these relations and cooperation. For instance, within the framework of cooperation it is planned to organize an international symposium with the Venice Commission early next year and he invited the Ambassador to participate in it. The Chief Justice also expressed his interest in cooperating with the Venice Commission to further strengthen the capacity of the Secretariat of the Constitutional Court of Mongolia.

At the end, the Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court said that he supported the Ambassador’s efforts to expand cooperation between Mongolia and the European Union, particularly towards improving the legal environment for judiciary and business and noted that he would be glad to cooperate.  

In response, the Ambassador said that the Constitutional Court of Mongolia is an institution that plays a very important role in resolving constitutional disputes. The fact that citizens submit petitions, express their opinions is a very healthy form of democracy. She noted that the Court is considered as an institution that gives people the right to express their views without losing faith and that she is optimistic she would achieve a lot during her tenure as Ambassador.
