Virtual meeting of Mr. Chinbat Namjil, Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court of Mongolia, and Mr. Li Fei, Chairman of the Constitution and Law Committee of the National People’s Congress of PRC

On December 3, 2021, Mr. Chinbat Namjil, Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court of Mongolia and Mr. Li Fei, Chairman of the Constitution and Law Committee of the National People’s Congress of PRC held a virtual meeting.

During the meeting, the heads of the constitutional review bodies of the two countries noted that the relations between the two countries are developing successfully at the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership regardless the difficult pandemic situation.

Within the framework of the issues discussed at the virtual meeting, the participants made presentations on the functions, powers, specifics of activities and legal regulations of their respective organizations and exchanged information on issues of interest.

Mr. Chinbat Namjil expressed his desire to further develop cooperation between the Constitutional Court of Mongolia and the Constitution and Law Committee of the National People’s Congress of PRC, to establish a mechanism for maintaining regular relations, to expand relations between the two organizations’ secretariats, to conduct joint trainings, research and exchange of information.

Mr. Li Fei, Chairman of the Constitution and Law Committee of the National People’s Congress of PRC, praised the level of relations and cooperation between the two countries, and expressed his desire to further develop relations between the Constitution and Law Committee of the National People’s Congress of PRC and the Constitutional Court of Mongolia within the framework of the comprehensive strategic partnership. He also highlighted that this meeting took place a day before the 39th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of PRC.

He expressed readiness to cooperate in developing and strengthening relations and cooperation between the two constitutional review bodies and welcomed the proposal to establish a mechanism for maintaining regular relations.

At the end of the meeting, the Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court of Mongolia and the Chairman of the Constitution and Law Committee of the National People’s Congress of PRC agreed to pay reciprocal visits.

Next year will mark the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the new Constitution of Mongolia, the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Constitutional Court of Mongolia and the 40th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of the People’s Republic of China.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Odbayar Dorj, Mr. Tuulkhuu Gombojav, Mr. Erdenebulgan Juujaa, Justices of the Constitutional Court of Mongolia, H.E. Badral Tuvshin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to the People’s Republic of China, Mr. Jiang Bixin and Zhou Guangquan,  Deputy Chairmen of the Constitution and Law Committee of the National People’s Congress of China, Mr. Sun Xianzhong, member of the Committee, H.E. Chai Wenrui Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Mongolia, and other officials.
