Mr. Chinbat Namjil: “The scientific research in the field of constitutional law needs to be developed differently”

The Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court of Mongolia Mr. Chinbat Namjil had a meeting with the President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Korea Mr. Namseok Yoo, who came to participate in the 5th Congress of the Association of Asian Constitutional Courts and Equivalent Institutions, as well as on an official visit to Mongolia, on August 18, 2022.

First of all, Mr. Chinbat Namjil, Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court of Mongolia, noted that this visit is of special importance for the development of relations between the two organizations and mentioned that the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Korea played an exceptional role in the development of Asian constitutional courts and cooperation in this context.

Also, he expressed his high regard for the activities of the AACC Secretariat for Research and Development that operates under the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Korea, where the representatives of Mongolia worked and acquired knowledge. He said:
“In the future, we are interested in more active cooperation in the field of conducting joint research and exchange of experts to further develop our relations. The project implemented by KOICA at the Constitutional Court of Mongolia became the beginning of cooperation between our two courts in the field of information and technology. I believe that cooperation in accordance with development trends, exchange of experts, and deepening of project results would be fully compatible with the goal to further develop our relations.”

In addition, he mentioned that the Association of Asian Constitutional Courts and Equivalent Institutions was jointly initiated by the Constitutional Court of Mongolia and the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Korea. “It is understood that one of the organization’s main activities is the development of the science of constitutional law in Asia and the further intensification of research work in this regard. In particular, with the emergence of many new challenges in global life and international relations in the wake of the global pandemic, scientific research in the field of constitutional law needs to be developed differently. We have a lot of work to do in this area”, he said. The Chief Justice expressed the view that cooperation and exchange of information through joint research, exchange of scientists and researchers, joint meetings, and seminars would be useful.

The President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Korea, Mr. Namseok Yoo, said: “I consider it very important that the 5th Congress of the Association of Asian Constitutional Courts and Equivalent Institutions is being held in Ulaanbaatar at these difficult times of pandemic.

I conclude that the success of the activities of the AACC Secretariat for Research and Development working under our court is the result of the support and cooperation of the Constitutional Court of Mongolia and other member organizations of the Association.

We are ready to continue having seconded officers from the Constitutional Court of Mongolia in our research organization and to cooperate in further developing the work within the project. I am confident that this will provide an opportunity to further develop our cooperation."
